Full question: “I am appalled at the view of Dublin every time I ride by that city on 580. They appear to have no constraints on building anywhere and everywhere. How do you plan on keeping Livermore from exploding its construction of businesses and housing? What if another Pardee Homes comes a-courting our City?”
My response: You’ve asked a really complicated question, both about providing homes for people and about business growth. In both cases, you can look at the city’s General Plan to see what is planned where up from 2003-2025, with the most recent amendment being in 2015.
The set of documents is comprehensive (read: really long), but you can see how the General Plan allocates space on the General Plan Map. It balances economic (aka business development), housing, open space, and community character needs in a way that will ensure that we can maintain the essence of what makes Livermore feel like a town, rather than a faceless city. I support the content of plan, as well as the careful process that went into ensuring balance.
